Kristin Nelson creates original, organic forms by coiling and pinching clay. Surfaces, softly dimpled from the pinching, reveal the artist's touch. Thin, raised, white stripes applied by hand add another layer of texture, making each piece unique.
Kristin, or Kri Kri, describes her work as "perfectly imperfect".
"Vit" , Swedish for white, is a natural name for these simple, modern style ceramics with white stripe detailing.
A Seattle native, Kristin Nelson studied weaving in Sweden then earned her degree in ceramic sculpture from the University of Washington.
REBECCA MADONNA POTTERY
From the Artist:
I’ve been a potter off and on since i was a child, always taking classes and making art in my free time including painting, paper collage, and illustration. As an adult I took some time off from a career in graphic design to have a family, and three years ago decided to pursue ceramics full time. I love collaborating with and supporting other women-owned small businesses in my community. You can find my pottery sold in several local shops including the Edmonds area, downtown Ballard and Leavenworth.
