The 2021 growing season in the Willamette Valley produced exceptional fruit for our Megan Anne Pinot Noir. The season began early and progressed smoothly, with bloom occurring in favorable weather in early June. Despite an unusual heat dome in late June, the vineyards were unaffected, and the season continued with warm and dry weather until early September when cooler temperatures slowed ripening, leading to complex flavors. Grapes were harvested from September 15th to 26th in beautiful weather, resulting in balanced flavors and silky textures. The 2021 Megan Anne Pinot Noir is a blend of two clones: 777 and 115. Most of the blend is sourced from Lazy River Vineyard, featuring 20+ year old vines on a cooler site with prized Jory soil that allows for slower ripening and concentrated fruit. The rest is from Freedom Hill Vineyard, situated on a gentle southeast slope that benefits from early morning sun exposure and cold air drainage, providing ideal conditions for the grapes to mature.
